The 6th General Assembly and Annual Conference of the Marie Curie Alumni Association will take place at the University of Vienna, Austria, next 24th and 25th February 2019 and will be open to MCAA members and non-members. This year the conference will address the topic of: ‘Research and Innovation beyond the Information Age. Registration is now open!!!
With technology revolutionising the job market and the internet reshaping people’s lives, it is a time of challenges and opportunities. Today, researchers are expected to utilize technology and information to further their scientific research, to communicate it effectively to the public, and to realise its potential in the market. At the same time, researchers face the risk of becoming overwhelmed by the diversity of information.
Members of MCAA are encouraged and welcome to present their research work at the General Assembly and Annual Conference. A Poster Session is planned to give members a chance to share their discoveries and experiences with other members attending this event! Abstract deadline: please note that the deadline for abstract submission is 10th January 2019.
Moreover, the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) intends to highlight and reward its members for their actions and activities within the community. The winners of these awards are selected by an independent jury (award committee). This committee will assess the applications received for the following awards (https://www.mariecuriealumni.eu/mcaa-awards):
- MCAA Career Award to reward a member with a career of excellence
- MCAA Best Innovator Award to reward a member who presents the best innovation approach
- MCAA Social Impact Award to reward a member whose activity has a positive social impact
- MCAA Outstanding Contributor Award to reward the member who has contributed the most to the MCAA
In the meanwhile, next 23 Jan 2019 at 1pm CET, the “Bridging Science and Business” working group (BSB WG) is organizing a One-hour webinar on Effective leadership for successful research & innovation, about the challenges and opportunities in managing their peoples' motivation, contribution, commitment, tasks and goal accomplishment, nurturing a positive workplace climate. In this webinar central aspects of effective leadership and management of staff are discussed, including the impact on achievement of goals in general and as relevant to quality research and innovation as well as to the wellbeing of people. The speaker will be Dr. Efrat Salton Meyer, a psychologist, organizational consultant, lecturer at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) and Tel Aviv University in Israel. Her research interests lie in leadership, power and motivation in organizations as well as decision making. Her consulting work supports the development of effective leadership promoting successful achievements as well as employees' well-being.
