CONSUMEHealth. Using consumer science to improve healthy eating habits. H2020-MSCA-IF-2016
The objective of this Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) is to understand what drives consumers to make healthier food choices and provide evidence-based recommendations for stakeholders and policy makers to develop and communicate innovative win-win solutions improving eating habits. This MSCA will consist of spending 24 months at Cornell University (Partner Organization). Behavioural economics studies through interviews, lab and field experiments (hypothetical and non-hypothetical) will be carried out. Workshops and courses on food consumer research methods will provide excellent training. Visits to conferences, stakeholders and other research centers will be made.
PrimeFish. Consolidating the economic sustainability and competitiveness of European fisheries and aquaculture sectors to reap the potential of seafood markets – EU H2020 
PrimeFish project is developing an innovative market orientated prediction toolbox. It allows strengthening the economic sustainability and competitiveness of European Seafood on Local and Global markets. The lead users, typically fishing associations, aquaculture and seafood producers, will be able to use the project’s outcome to improve their understanding on the functioning of markets and in setting strategic plans for future production and innovation. 
In the last years, following the changes in the European legislation and market demand, the group of research of the University of Parma has been focusing on the topic of the so-called "novel food". In particular, in 2014, I wrote the first Italian book for the general public about entomophagy and the perspective of edible insects as food and feed. The co-author is Mr. Paul Vantomme (FAO), one of the main international experts on the topic. Since then I and my group of researchers have been carrying out and presented studies on Italian consumer’s perception, attitude and behaviour about eating insect products and food neophobia in several conferences worldwide (Detroit, USA; Oxford, UK; Piacenza, Italy) and published manuscripts in several peer-review journals.

Wine & Sustainability

Exploring the issues around sustainability in the wine industry has been one of the main activities carried out during my PhD “Consumer preferences and attitude for wine attributes: the case of sustainable labelling”. In particular, results have shown difference in organic perception between German and Italian consumers, attitude towards sustainable-labelled wine shaped by both environmental and quality beliefs and different clusters based on the willingness to pay for this attribute.
All these research projects have been carried out with the essential contribution and under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Mora and Dr. Davide Menozzi of the Department of Food and Drug of (University of Parma). Further studies on this topic, also involving sensory analysis, are currently carrying on.
“Welfare Quality - A production ethics concept in the swine sector” – University of Parma - Industry project
An increasing number of food companies announce their commitment to the sustainability of their production chain, especially regarding animal welfare. This project aimed to analyze two important aspects of the chain: fresh meat and sausage production, especially those certified by a Protected Designation of Origin PDO. Specific aims regard the analysis of consumer purchasing satisfaction (utility) associated with the consumption of meat and processed animal products breed using animal welfare production techniques.
PreSto GMO ERA-Net. Preparatory steps towards a GMO research ERA-Net - EU (FP7)
PreSto GMO-ERA-Net lays the groundwork for translational research on health, environmental and techno-economic impacts of GMOs. The project engages stakeholders throughout all stages of the project to ensure that future research in this area will also be highly relevant and meaningful from a broader societal perspective. 
PEGASUS. Public Perception of Genetically modified Animals - EU (FP7)
PEGASUS aims to provide policy support regarding the development, implementation and commercialisation of GM animals, and derivative foods and pharmaceutical products. The results will contribute to the FP7 KBBE by integrating existing social, (including existing public perception) environmental and economic knowledge regarding GM animals.
